Obituary for Jacque Lynn DeSautell

On Sunday, December 2, 2018, at 3:00 P.M., Jacque DeSautell, loving wife, daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully in her home with family. She was 59 years old.

Born on July 8, 1959, to James and Ernestine Booth in Pryor, OK, Jacque graduated from Pryor High School in 1977. She became a mother when daughter Callie was born to her and Paul Stevens in 1983, with son Dylan born to them four years after. She became a proud grandmother when Callie’s son Ethan Burlin was born in 2004. Eight years later she married Randy DeSautell, becoming a loving stepmother to Kyle DeSautell and wife Tiffany and step-grandmother to Porter and Hayes.

Jacque enjoyed working in her garden, being outdoors, antiques, and crafts, but reserved a special passion for her family and its history. Her home was a living chronicle to the lives of the many branches of her family tree. No matter how close or how distant, Jacque genuinely loved each relative as if they were her own, earning her the nicknames “Meemaw,” “Gram Crappy,” and “Mama Kacky,” and a beloved status among the children, nephews, nieces, stepchildren, and grandchildren of her extended family. She was also a consistent source of support for grandparents, aunts, uncles, and especially her mother and her sister, Jamie Ogden.

In the early 1990s she received her degree in occupational therapy and took the compassionate spirit known by her friends and family to the hundreds of patients she treated across northeast Oklahoma. Warm and sociable, she often had a book to recommend (or avoid), a fact to consider, or an anecdote (possibly bawdy) for anyone in her company. More often than not, she also had a joke to tell, because she absolutely loved to laugh and her quick, gentle wit made it impossible not to laugh with her. She brightened every room she was in.

Jacque was preceded in death by her father and is survived by her mother, her sister, her two children, her husband, her grandchildren, her nephews Abe and Elijah Ogden, and several loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Her immediate family is especially grateful for the love and constant care she received from her cousin, Tina Castoe, right until her final moments.
